Events
Week of the Young Child
The Week of the Young Child (WOYC) is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). WOYC is a week full of hands-on, collaborative activities that encourage movement and healthy lifestyles through music, food, and art.
Diadeloso
Diadeloso, or "The Day of the Bear," began as a way for Baylor students to take a break from classes and have a little fun before spring finals and has since grown into a community event that many families enjoy together! The Piper Center closes early for 'Dia' because even the smallest Bears deserve a chance to run and play on campus.
National Campus Children's Week
The National Coalition of Campus Children's Centers (NCCCC) selects one week in October of each year to celebrate laboratory schools and the colleges and universities that support them. In 2021, each class at Piper took a field trip to campus: the Baby Bears visited Fountain Mall, the Bruins (toddlers) visited McLane Stadium, the Osos (two's) visited the Bear Habitat, the Marigolds (three's) visited Burleson Quadrangle, and the Sailor Bears (pre-k) visited the 'river' at the Baylor Science Building.
Homecoming Parade
Families, friends, and fans of the Piper Center are invited to join us at the corner of 4th Street and Austin Avenue to watch the oldest and largest collegiate homecoming parade in the country and cheer on our Baylor Bears.
Christmas on 5th Street
Christmas carolling is a favorite pastime of the children and teachers at the Piper Center! And each year at Christmas on 5th, we get to share the fun with our families and friends in a sing-along-style performance on the SUB Bowl stage.
Family Nights
During the summer months when the pace of life slows a bit, our Parent Advisory Board plans Family Nights for all Piper families as well as staff, students, and their loved ones. We have had food, fellowship, and fun at Cameron Park Zoo, the Mayborn Museum, and other beloved local attractions.
